First, let’s talk definitions.
Success, for the purposes of this post, means having enough money to be able to say “see ya” and go off to do what you really want to do, like sail around the world or write that book.
Here’s what I know about getting that kind of success: an education helps; being born into the right family helps; winning a lottery helps; a strategic marriage may help; hard work helps.
And when all that still doesn’t get you where you want to be, perhaps take Paul Getty’s approach. Apparently he said:
My formula for success is to rise early, work late, and strike oil.
